It’s been another year of disappointment for the Kansas City Royals. Poised for a run at the playoffs, the Royals entered July 15 games under .500. Many in the organization were still optimistic about the team that had been assembled, but the price of keeping the same team on the field for next season was going to be more than David Glass and the ownership would be able to handle. To take the team in a new direction, the Royals brought in a new GM. Upset at the loss of Eric Hosmer, Billy Butler, and Josh Johnson, the fan base is fearful that they are looking at another long rebuild despite assurances from the organization that they are confident that with the room in the budget they’ve created, they only need make a few smart acquisitions in the off-season to find themselves competing for a playoff spot in August of next year.
