Minnesota Twins 2026 Top Prospects

The Twins finished last season 51-111 with the worst record in baseball. They brought in a new GM and a new coaching staff. Starting with new Hitting Coach Mark McGwire coming over from the Rangers and Scouting Director Andrew Friedman formerly of the Blue Jays on November 11th, the team went through a large overhaul of all coaching staff, including MLB manger Russell Branyan looking to make finish his first season managing in the MLB after a 34-game stint in Tampa Bay. The team also locked up star right fielder, Dan Crawford for 5 years, with the hopes that his presence will bring out the fans and bring some much needed fun to the locker room. The team also extended 3B Jeff Pedersen and DH Miguel Sano after rough seasons last year in hopes of a bounce back. Looking to the future, the Twins made some moves to improve their minor league system as well. Today we will take a look at the top prospects in the Twins system according to OSA.

1. C Carlos Cruz
At 20 years old, Cruz has established himself as one of the games premier catching prospects. He ranks #1 for his position and number 29th overall. A successful campaign in Myrtle Beach last season posting a 124 OPS+ with a .332/.376/.483 clip raised his ranking from last years #31. While his fielding still leaves room for improvement, his fundamentals behind the plate indicate they will become average. With his above average bat, he could become one of the cornerstones of this franchise for years to come.

2. SP Greg Bryant
Drafted number 4th overall last year, the Rocky Point, NY graduate has established high hopes. He struck out 236 across 112.1 innings his senior year for a K/9 rate of 18.9. He posted a 0.32 era in his senior year as well. Bryant’s transition to pro-ball left much to be desired. He posted a 7.87 ERA across 50.1 innings with a FIP 5.70. Still many players struggle adjusting to pro-ball, his groundballer style of play is expected to do well for him as OSA projects to be the ace on this staff.

3. CF Pedro Franco
Another off-season acquisition, the returning piece in for 1B Craig Moore, the NJ native hit well in A last season. He slashed .348/.416/.633 for an OPS+ of 163. A strong left handed bat, he’s an above average defender at CF. The key piece of Franco’s tool set is not one of the five tools. It is his leadership skills. He is a strong clubhouse presence at 22. While, his OSA ranking has dropped from previous seasons, he is still projected to be a contributing member of the Twins for many years to come.

4. RF Fevzi Oz
The Twin’s 2nd Round pick last year was L/L RF and power bat Fevzi Oz from Dallas Baptist. After not signing in ‘22 as a 1st Rounder pick, Oz went to college where posted a .982 OPS in his final season, with a .612 SLG. In his first pro-season, those numbers shifted, as he focused more on walks and working the count. He drew 43 walks (only 1 was Intentional) over 256 posting a 16.8% walk rate (for reference, baseball reference ranks anything over 15% as the highest tier). His increased walk rate gave him a .405 OBP, but lowered his SLG percentage to .483. This still totaled to a well above average OPS of .888. Starting this season in Cedar Rapids, it will be interesting to see if Oz will resume swinging for the fences, or if this new batting style will bring him to the majors.

5. RF Maximo Bustamante
After a good season in Advanced R Missoula in 2024, Bustamante posted better numbers in less than half the games for Missoula again last season. Currently ranked 193 by OSA, Bustamante has high hopes from the new scouting director, Andrew Friedman, but there are lingering questions about his ability to translate his raw talent until baseball results. He will start the season in Cedar Rapids in A ball where they hope to get his fielding prowess ready for the big leagues.
