RP Rex Brothers (HOU) – Possible fits: TBR, CLE, CHW, CIN, SD

Brothers was acquired by the Astros as part of an April attempt to propel the team into contention for a wild card spot. The contending hasn’t happened for the Astros, and thus Brothers along with Romo and Pineda (both also acquired in the buying frenzy), have been placed on the block.

In short, any team in contention would be upgrading their ‘pen by acquiring the lefty, but the teams listed above are particularly short/weak on lefty bullpen options. Brothers is not just a LOOGY and as such, the price to pay for him will be of an elite set-up man, which Brothers has shown throughout his career he can be...

MOOSE

3B Mike Moustakas (COL) – Possible fits: KC, CHW, SF

The Colorado front office has made it known loud and clear that the third baseman is on the block. However if the Rockies stay hot and continue to win games, they may need to reverse their approach and think about holding onto their best performer. But with the dismal state of their pitching staff this notion of a surge in the standings may be a bit far-fetched.

The Royals would be an ideal fit for the three sacker. In the competitive AL Central acquiring Moose may be just enough to separate them from the pack. Elsewhere in the Central the Sox, who have Junior Lake entrenched as their everyday 3B, most certainly could stand to see an upgrade...

Cardinals Repeat as MLDSB World Champions!

Wednesday, November 9th, 2016
The St. Louis Cardinals are champions, today and forever.

“Nobody can take this away from us, not ever,” said an excited Kolten Wong after his club had defeated the Texas Rangers. “We worked hard and we accomplished our goal.”

The atmosphere was electric as the newly-crowned champs stormed the field as the game concluded.

Fans cheered, gloves flew in the air, high fives and hugs were the order of the day.

“From day one of spring training, I could see it in their eyes,” said the St. Louis manager. “The players had that look of intensity, of hunger, of a desire to accomplish something great, and today they did that – they’re champions of the world.”

The Cardinals took the series 4-2, with the final win being a 2-1 triumph.

The new titleholders completed the reg...

St. Louis Wins 2015 World Series!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015
The St. Louis Cardinals concluded the season in grand fashion — they won the Major League Daily Sim Baseball League World Series. They nailed it down at Fenway Park by whipping the Boston Red Sox 5-4 to win it all. They took the series 4-2.

Their motto for the season was “Win or Die Trying.”

“They never let up and they never stopped trying the whole season,” the Cardinals manager proudly told reporters. “They hustled and fought the whole season and it continued in the playoffs. They are a very special bunch of guys.”

To get their 1st MLDSB league crown, the Cardinals finished the regular season in the National League Central Division with a 91-71 record, ending up in first place in the division standings.

Major Trade Deadline Trade!

The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers completed a huge deal late last night and just hours before the 2014 non-waiver trade deadline that has the MLDSB world rockin’!  It had been believed that the Rockies had finished wheeling and dealing after acquiring young SP Jameson Taillon from the Pittsburgh Pirates just the day before but apparently the Rockies had one more player they had put on their radar to help boost the team’s chances to compete for a wildcard and maybe even the NL West title and that player was SP Zack Greinke.  Greinke had been acquired last season in a trade that sent Troy Tulowitzki to the Dodgers but quickly the teams backed out of the trade.

The Dodgers have been looking to put a potent bat and glove at the hot corner all season and with Nick Punto not doing...

Rockies Get Their Man!

The Colorado Rockies have been busy all season totally revamping their club after a very disappointing start to the 2014 campaign in which the team and fans expected to compete for the NL West title after winning the 2nd wildcard spot last season.  After #1 starter Kris Medlen went down in the first inning of the first spring training game, it was clear that the current team composition was not going to make the team a contender.  At one point in May, the team found itself holding up the entire league at the bottom of the power rankings, holding the #30 ranking.  GM Stamey had had enough and decided to clean house and bring in players that wanted to play...

Mets Mid-Season Report

The New York Mets struggled to a 40-55 win record through the first half of the season. Despite solid starting pitcher, the bullpen and offense have been inconsistent at best and mediocre for the larger part of the season. A mid season trade to bolster the lineup, call ups from the farm and a shake up in the coaching staff has led to a rough beginning to 2014.

Young pitching led by first time all-star Matt Harvey and ROY candidate Zack Wheeler has kept the team afloat. Harvey led the team with a 2.83 ERA despite only having a 7-8 record. Wheeler has been the most fortunate of the group, leading the team with 13 wins and 133 K. Drew Pomeranz has been trending downward after a solid April and May, but has looked the part of a solid part of the future of the Mets staff...

DBacks All-Star Break Update

After an offseason that left fans wondering about the wisdom of trading face of the franchise Paul Goldschmidt at the same time slugging C/1B Mike Napoli was allowed to leave as a free agent, the Diamondbacks got off to a slow 4-11 start. The whispers began that new GM Matt Book might be fired before the end of the year. Fans and ownership questioned the wisdom of losing not just those two, but also Brandon McCarthy, Cody Ross, Jason Kubel, Connor Gillaspie, and David Hernandez in a series of cost-cutting moves. But the Diamondbacks have since rounded into form, going 50-31 since that point and are ready for a second-half playoff push. Currently sitting just half a game out of the wild card and 4...
