Major Trade: Tulowitzki for Fielder

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
In a deal that has turned the baseball world on its ear, the Rockies have traded 30-year-old reliever Burke Badenhop, 29-year-old shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and 25-year-old minor league center fielder Brett Jackson to the Tigers for 29-year-old first baseman Prince Fielder. None of the players could immediately be reached for comment. Fans in Colorado and Detroit couldn’t believe it. However, baseball analysts at BNN all agreed that this was a good deal for both ball clubs.

During his career Tulowitzki has hit .290 with 969 hits, 160 home runs, 561 RBIs and scored 559 runs.

In 1322 career games, Fielder has put up a .290 average, collected 266 doubles, 10 triples, and 299 home runs, driven in 863 runs, and scored 775 times.

Wildcard Teams Advance!

In two very exciting, low-scoring games, the Washington Nationals and the Chicago White Sox won their wildcard series games and move on to the divisional series with game 1 slated to be played on Friday night.

The Nationals sent 20 game winner Stephen Strasburg to the mound while the Rockies sent 19 game winner Kris Medlen who was acquired from the Atlanta Braves prior to the 2013 trade deadline.  Strasburg was amazing as expected, giving up just one run while Medlen was strong as well but giving up 3 runs in his 7 innings of work.  3B Ryan Zimmerman lead off the scoring for the Nationals in the bottom of the 2nd with a solo home run...

Tulo for Greinke! Say What?!

In what may be the most shocking move in the young history of MLDSB, the Colorado Rockies have shipped the face of the franchise and arguable the most popular Rockie in team history, Troy Tulowitzki, to the hated division foe, the Los Angeles Dodgers for one of the top pitchers in all of MLDSB, SP Zack Greinke.  Desperate for a great arm to compliment the decent arms in the starting rotation, the Rockies decided that they had sufficient hitting to offset the loss of Tulowitzki to acquire Greinke who has been incredible so far in the 2013 campaign.  Other players were involved in the trade including the Rockies getting cash back from the Dodgers but clearly the key to this trade involved these two outstanding players.

GM Dan Stamey was asked at the news conference last night during the ...

League Presidents Announced

Though there were plenty of qualified candidates, the league commissioner has made his decision on who will serve as the league presidents for the 2013 – 2014 MLDSB season.  Will Herbert, GM of the New York Mets will serve as the NL President and Matt Byrd, GM of the Texas Rangers will serve as the AL President.

The two of them along with Rob Tomlinson, the Assistant Commissioner serve as the league accountability team as honesty and integrity are two very important keys to a successful league.  They will promote league activity as well as be the first line of defense for disputes involving teams in their leagues.

Congratulations to Matt and Will!
