Wednesday, November 9th, 2016<\/strong> “Nobody can take this away from us, not ever,” said an excited Kolten Wong<\/a> after his club had defeated the Texas Rangers<\/a>. “We worked hard and we accomplished our goal.”<\/p>\n The atmosphere was electric as the newly-crowned champs stormed the field as the game concluded.<\/p>\n Fans cheered, gloves flew in the air, high fives and hugs were the order of the day.<\/p>\n “From day one of spring training, I could see it in their eyes,” said the St. Louis manager. “The players had that look of intensity, of hunger, of a desire to accomplish something great, and today they did that – they’re champions of the world.”<\/p>\n The Cardinals took the series 4-2, with the final win being a 2-1 triumph.<\/p>\n The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the National League Central Division and a 117-45 record.
